The Roots for Hope was born from lived experience, compassion, and a desire to create the kind of support that can change the direction of a family's life.
We understand that hardship rarely comes in just one form. Food insecurity, housing instability, limited opportunities, financial hardship, and lack of access to resources can all be connected. That's why our vision has never been to address just one need.
What began as a desire to help families in our community has grown into a nonprofit committed to meeting immediate needs while developing programs that create opportunities for long-term growth.
Today, we're putting down deeper roots—building community initiatives, expanding youth opportunities, addressing hunger, and creating pathways toward greater stability for the people and families we serve.
To strengthen individuals, children, youth, and families by addressing immediate needs, expanding access to resources, and creating opportunities that support long-term stability, growth, and independence.
We envision communities where every person has access to the resources, opportunities, support, and sense of belonging needed to build a stronger future.

Founder & President
Alicia Cummins founded The Roots for Hope with a vision shaped by both lived experience and a deep commitment to serving others. Her experiences navigating hardship, caring for others, raising a family, and connecting people with needed resources helped shape an organization focused not only on providing help, but on creating pathways forward.
Her vision for The Roots for Hope is rooted in dignity, opportunity, and community—building programs that meet people where they are while helping them grow toward where they want to be.
“Sometimes people don't need someone to rescue them. They need resources, opportunity, support, and someone willing to believe they can grow.”
